Colorado Ophthalmology and CosMEDics offers facial and body waxing for men and women in Snowmass Village, Lone Tree, Littleton, Aurora, and surrounding areas of Colorado.

What is Waxing?

Waxing is a safe and effective way to remove excess hair from your face and body. Instead of shaving and plucking, you can remove the hair in a simple, quick, and easy treatment. The hair grows back thinner and lighter compared to other techniques, and it works from even the most delicate skin.

What Areas Can Be Treated with Waxing?

At Colorado Ophthalmology and CosMEDics, we offer facial and body waxing, including:

  • Legs
  • Back
  • Chest
  • Eyebrows
  • Upper lip
  • Face
  • Chin
  • Abdomen
  • Bikini area
  • Underarms

Is Waxing Better Than Shaving?

In many ways, waxing is superior to shaving. When you shave hair, it only cuts the follicle at the surface of your skin. Within less than a day, you have stubble because the hair continues to grow. Shaving also increases the chances of ingrown hair and irritation. Waxing, on the other hand, pulls the follicle out by the root. When it does grow back, it may be lighter and thinner. Some men and women notice that, over time, the hair no longer grows in the treatment area.

How Do I Prepare for a Waxing Treatment?

We recommend that you not shave the treatment area for at least one week prior to your waxing appointment. The wax needs to grab the hair, and this is difficult if the hair is too short. You can trim hair prior to your appointment, but this isn’t necessary.

How is Waxing Performed?

The wax for our hair removal treatments is warmed to a precise temperature. We use different types of wax depending on where you need to remove hair. The wax is applied and allowed to cool. Once it is cool, the hair is trapped in the wax. We quickly removed the wax in a single motion. There may be a few stray hirs left, so we remove these with tweezers or small amounts of wax.

Waxing Recovery

There is no recovery required after a waxing treatment. Your skin may be slightly red and sensitive for a few hours.

How Long Do The Results of Waxing Last?

Although the hair is completely removed during a waxing treatment, new hair strands will grow in the follicle. The growth cycle takes about three to six weeks. Hair in certain areas may be at different stages of growth, so it is normal to see some hair returning in less than three weeks. You can schedule a follow-up treatment or wait until your next appointment to clean up the stray hairs.

We tailor our waxing treatments to the specific needs of each person, so the cost does vary. To learn how much your waxing treatment will cost, schedule a consultation at our office.
