Rinsada

Drops sit on the front of the eye. Lid wipes clean the lash line. Neither reliably reaches the pocket under the eyelid — the palpebral conjunctiva and fornix — where allergens, bacteria, biofilm, and inflammatory proteins collect.

Rinsada is an in-office rinse built for that space. A soft, single-use retractor lifts the lid just enough to flush sterile fluid across the inner lid, the deep fold, and the surface at the same time. The goal is to lower the inflammatory load and give the tear film a clean surface to work with.

Why It Is Not Just Another Rinse

  • A patented irrigating retractor with multiple micro-ports washes the undersurface, not only the cornea.
  • It complements lid-margin cleaning (ZEST or BlephEx). Those treat the lash line. Rinsada treats the hidden inner lid.
  • Published data have shown a large drop in MMP-9, a marker of ocular surface inflammation — including more than a 70% reduction, with some patients converting to a negative test after the rinse.

What Happens in the Chair

Numbing drops first. The retractor seats under the lid. You feel cool fluid and mild pressure, not a sharp instrument. About 10 mL washes the upper lid and 5 mL the lower lid in each eye. Both eyes take a few minutes. No patch, no downtime.

What to Expect

  • Many people say the eye feels cleaner or less sticky before they leave.
  • Mild lid awareness or a little extra redness can last a few hours.
  • Burning, debris sensation, and reactive watering often settle over the following days.
  • Skip lash-line makeup that day. Vision can be softly blurred for a short time from the fluid and numbing drop.

Rinsada does not heat or squeeze the oil glands. If the oil is blocked, we still treat that with IPL, LipiFlow, or lid therapy. The rinse makes those steps work on a quieter surface.

How Many Treatments

One visit can be enough after an allergy or debris flare. Chronic dry eye or blepharitis often does better with two or three rinses a few weeks apart, then maintenance as needed.

This Is for You If

Drops help for an hour and then quit. Your eyes stay itchy or watery in Colorado air. Lid scrubs have not fixed the gritty undersurface. Or we want the surface quieter before IPL, LipiFlow, or surgery.

FAQ

Does this replace lid wipes?

No. Wipes treat the lash line at home. Rinsada treats the pocket under the lid.

Is it surgery?

No. No incision, stitch, or laser.

Same day as other treatments?

Often yes. We sequence based on what the lids need that day.
